About us

Mr. Mike L.H. Ridderhof MA (1978)

More than 20 years ago, as a young teenager, I started conducting genealogical research. By visiting many archives and talking with a large number of people this research has become ever more substantive. Now it contains ancestors coming from all over Europe, representing all layers of society. It contains ancestors that watched the last pieces of the Roman and Byzantine empires crumble, ancestors who landed with the Vikings in France, and ancestors that lay the foundations of modern day England, France, Germany, Spain and Russia.

There are ancestors loosing half their family to the Plague within ten days and ancestors witnessing the south-western part of the Netherlands quasi uninhabited and being repopulated by a mix of refugees, former soldiers and religious fanatics.
The way they were influenced by history, or were influencing history, puts a lot of modern day events into perspective. Therefore, if you are searching for genealogical or historical information from the Netherlands, please get in touch.

Geographical Specialisation: Even though experience includes research conducted in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, Germany, Latvia and India, I am most familiar with the archives in the Netherlands and Flanders in general and in the Dutch provinces of South-Holland, Zeeland and Noord-Brabant and the Belgian province of Antwerp in particular.
